Are you a parent hurting because your child has rebelled against God? And you think that you are a failure as a parent? Find hope in this: God’s first two kids rebelled as well. But God didn’t reject them. Instead, he sought them, saying to Adam, “Where are you?” (Gen. 3:9). This rhetorical question wasn’t to determine Adam’s location. He already knew that. God was seeking Adam to prompt confession. So that Adam could claim God’s grace and eliminate his shame. Here’s my point: Don’t give up on your wandering kids. Keep loving them. Continue to persist in prayer for them. There’s nothing more powerful than the persistent prayers of parents for their wayward kids. By the way, I fully expect to see Adam and Eve in heaven. There’s biblical evidence that God did cover their sins. And they were restored to the Lord. Don’t give up. Keep praying. Your kids can be restored to God as well. Their rebellion isn’t the final word!
