

Helene Disaster Response

Western North Carolina was hit with an unprecedented amount of rain and wind from Hurricane Helene, and the devastation is overwhelming. So many people have lost everything. Others don’t have the ability to leave their homes due to the roads being completely washed away. There is great need for basic life necessities. Here is how you can help:

Donate Items
Drop off the needed items (below) at the granite countertop in the Atrium at Moments of Hope Church on October 6th, 13th and 20th before or after the Sunday service.

Baby formula (any kind: ready to feed and canisters of dry formula accepted)

NEW baby bottles (they will not accept used)
Serve Day
Join MOHC on a day trip up to the mountains to serve with Samaritan’s Purse. We have two opportunities: October 17th and October 24th.
No experience or expertise necessary. Just be willing to serve!
Note: Once you register, you will receive additional details in your registration confirmation on how to register with Samaritan’s Purse for liability and documentation.
Itinerary for serve day:

4:45a Meet at MOHC
5:00a Depart for Boone, NC
- Breakfast (quick fast food) stop in Hickory, NC -
7:15a Orientation with Samaritan’s Purse
7:45a On site to serve for the day
*Volunteers must be 14 years of age or older. 14-15 year olds MUST be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian, and 16-17 year olds must be accompanied by an adult chaperone.

*Volunteers will need to pack their own lunch, water, drinks, and snacks
*We will stop for dinner on the way home, and will return to the church late evening
*Tools are provided. Volunteers are welcome to bring their own tool belt and small hand tools. Volunteers should dress in long pants and sturdy boots.
